Also, I would totally love a version that was actually a revenge filled version set properly in the American south about escaping slavery. Extra points if the protagonist was a woman.

Brutally fair and honest.

Yeahhh….we (Americans) ignore the fact that outside of say Cuba and Brazil, most of the americas had abolished slavery well before the US did.

Specifically, the Grots.

I am not sure that he wants to. The 2018 election was a happy coincidence of an extremely toxic candidate (Roy Moore) on the GOP side and very favorable electoral conditions for the DNC at the same time. While there are strong headwinds for the GOP, I don't think Alabama is at risk this year.

Honestly, it was a bright spot in 2018 in Alabama when he won the special election to replace Jeff Sessions for 2 years. I do remember people thinking he was a blue dog democrat which is...uh...something..

I was just curious. Keep up the good work and reporting, I enjoy your work even if it makes for grim reading.

No critique here and you probably already wrote about this, but how have anti fascist movements succeeded in the past like in inter war UK and what made them more successful than our terrible approach we had for (arguably) the past 40-50 years?

I would probably be more willing to sign off on this being a moral panic if LLM sellers weren’t claiming it promised things to the moon. I would argue that OpenAI and their ilk have a lot in common with Musk in general: sell a fantasy and take zero liability for it not living up to it or the harm.

Sorry, the Father of Darkness claimed me. Praise Hashut!

I dunno, the film 10,000 BC convinces me that maybe, just maybe, mankind had the choice to develop Toyota Hilux Technicals and instead chose dreadlocks. Which, to be fair, I would probably make the same choice.

Hard agree. And also to not be afraid of their own shadows when campaigning and offering things.

The day NATO is no longer necessary is a day when Russia is entirely disarmed and unable to threaten the peace and well being of Europeans in general and Eastern Europe in specific

Most people who like the idea of vampires fall into one of two categories: those who want to be the monster, and those who think they can be the exception to the rule of vampires being absolute monsters to anything not of their kind.

It just needs to be seen as a way to extract more tax revenue from the extremely wealthy that isn’t tied to their nominal income which might be not as insane sounding in comparison (though I don’t know what work requires a million dollars/pounds/euros a yea tbh).

I mean I think Bill Gates has some deep issues with him, but the whole data center crud is the current owners of Microsoft and their CEO who seems…well, Ed Zitron has the proper phrases for him.

If there is a single major foreign policy failure I would hand to Biden without any notes, it would be the relatively timid support for Ukraine. I mean it wasn’t nothing, but it also wasnt the full throated dump munitions and weapons into Ukraine until Russia goes away policy I desired.

The Jacobin allows (or supports) some truly insane tankies and brown-red alliance types to write for them and it makes taking anything they publish seriously.

Ah the joys of data pipelines and needing one unified format in a land of proprietary systems.

The only cross over with 40K I can vaguely tolerate is the empire from star wars vs the imperium. I can enjoy watching two fascist organizations murder each other.

It all depends on your metric, I believe. I know the Athenians overthrew a few of their autocratic governments and the French went through waves of both doing it and failing to do it throughout the 19th century. In general weak civil society makes the attempt for tyranny easier.
October 26, 2025 at 9:34 PM
And a much larger cross section of society in general.

It’s been an argument I’ve had with people I know.
