First, it wasn't the Democratic leadership that struck the deal.
Second, this is a landmine for R's. If they hold the vote, don't pass the ACA extensions, people will remember who cost them their healthcare in the midterms. The Electorate may have a short memory but not when it comes to healthcare.

Perhaps. But it will be interesting to see what happens after the R's defeat the ACA extensions. (We all know the R's will vote it down, or Trump will veto it.) People will remember who screwed them over their healthcare. This might turn out to be a gift to the Democrats in the mid-terms.

This is not new: Japan has 50yr mortgages, & some institutions have tested or offered 100-year mortgage terms to help with affordability. These loans are intended to keep monthly payments lower & sometimes passed down to younger family members, as they can last longer than the borrower's lifetime.
