In addition, Rhodri just explained that the local fibre provider is a virtual monopoly. So your original statement is perfectly valid.
December 19, 2025 at 7:16 AM
Ah, that would explain it. In Australia, the fibre was laid by a government provider and all ISPs use it.
December 19, 2025 at 7:13 AM
Either the market for ISPs is not competitive (which I doubt), or price rises are driven by their cost structure.

Interesting take. The Right will use Bondi to try and reinstate the ban on discourse critical of Israel. I wanna know how come _all_ that talk, money and effort couldn't stop Bondi. We need a discussion on national security and intelligence, not just anti-semitism.

Wonder why they had to increase prices. Is this the consumer paying for the data centre madness?
December 18, 2025 at 10:42 AM
Don't be so childish. This is a serious matter.

Disappointing. Of course Zionists (those still alive) will certainly be able to draw a moral boost. But to suggest that they, as opposed to murderous morons from the fringe of the pro-Palestinian camp (we'll see if they are Islamist), are in any way responsible for these events is not at all clever.

Ally of France, as I understand it.

Photoshop, by the looks of it...

Ley is outpolling Hastie among LNP voters. That is a surprisingly sane statistic.
November 23, 2025 at 12:22 PM
Oops. No hope for them. They are def stupid c*nts.
November 19, 2025 at 9:42 AM
Didn't hurt the Libs, until everyone worked out they were _stupid_ c*nts.
November 19, 2025 at 9:12 AM
I don't actually see the problem. Australia, as a massive producer of fossil fuels, is not a particularly appropriate host.
November 19, 2025 at 9:10 AM
Doesn't it have more fat in it than dark chocolate?
November 13, 2025 at 4:48 PM
C'mon, its essy. You just need to call it a prequel.
November 12, 2025 at 3:26 PM
I can confidently predict that this threat will have exactly the same effect as the original.
November 10, 2025 at 1:12 PM
I guess with their minimal influence they have to be satisfied these days with pretending to influence the Lib caucus.
November 7, 2025 at 8:14 PM
True, I missed that. But I doubt whether the ideology-obsessed denizens of the Lib right pay any attention to the ABC. They are high on their supply of MAGA, Gina and petty games of position.
November 7, 2025 at 7:59 PM
I think you are massively overestimating the ABC's influence. True, its total audience reach is 68%. Only a small percentage of those pay any attention to the political line being pushed by the Angus Taylor tragics in charge.

Reminds me of that time WA Premier Mark McGowan was in fits of laughter when asked about a guy being fined for eating a kebab in Sydney during COVID restrictions...
November 6, 2025 at 8:24 PM
Well I'm a bit done with foul-mouthed keyboard blowhards, do I guess we're about even. Have a nice day.

The problem is that your definition of authoritarian applies to most if not all western governments & to all Australian govts, past & probably future. So it's not very useful. Authoritarian is a term normally applied where opposition parties & judicial system are heavily & systematically repressed.
