I bet someday multiplayer games won't have other players anymore. Lobbies will be 1 human and the rest AI. The game will dynamically respond to the players actions, giving them, "I just made it.", moments. It'll keep the frustration vs satisfaction ratio just right to keep them addicted. Mtx too.
