The concept of bonding, affection or indulging in childish hobbies isn't really a thing TM. Although there is effort to give him some level of care from nursemaids, servants etc.
This led to him being socially and emotionally stunted.

Although all his physical needs are met, his emotional needs aren't. He's entered into intensive training as soon as he were able, expected to excel and taken out on "field trips" to exorcise stronger curses.
Much of his childhood is spent training when he isn't sneaking out.
