As the adage goes about artists I am my own worst critic. Then one of those wayback remember when app thingies showed me this drawing I did in 2014 (11 years ago?!) of John Stewart hosting the Daily Show and I thought, "Oh. Maybe I always had that portrait juice?" Yeah, maybe!

I accidentally a hiatus, whoopsie. Healing can be messy, uncomfortable, and nonlinear, but also rewarding and restorative.

This is because I have embarked on a journey of healing from past traumas, changing unhealthy patterns, and strengthening my relationship with myself. I am deep in the trenches of learning self compassion and drawing healthy boundaries. Instead of raking myself over the coals for not meeting my own unreasonable standards, I am reorienting what those standards should be. Rebuilding this interior foundation will allow me to more freely share my true self, as well as more fully realize my potential in a way that aligns with my values and goals. Intellectually I knew that process would be overwhelming in a variety of ways, but experiencing the reality is a different beast entirely. I'm extremely fortunate and grateful to have family and friends who are supportive and encouraging of this process. What does this mean going forward? When I'm ready to return my livestreams will occur on a rogue/unscheduled basis, at least for the time being. I've been flattered and humbled that a small community formed around that practice. I'm writing this message in part to express gratitude for that support. Thank you. I feel gratified that my efforts to dust out the cobwebs in my mind has led to artistic growth as well.
