Plus the impact damage from hitting the ground with that much force probably messes up any that survive the heat. That's assuming the seeds are even in there, let alone viable to begin with. And then there's the issue of invasive non native species that could be in the mix and survive.

You can also store yarn in plastic sandwich bags to keep it clean. Also keeps moths and carpet beetles out of wool/cotton yarns. If you snip a corner off, you can thread yarn through to work with. Go slowly when untangling knots, usually pulling loops back towards the skein is enough.

You can use a spare piece of string (in a different color) or a twist tie from bread to mark/track stitches. If you hand starts to hurt, take a break. A small notebook for tracking what project uses what hook can also help. It can get easy to lose track when you have multiple sizes.
