Currently the focus is to prepare OT students with knowledge on how to contact legislators to support relevant legislation - usually in coursework it's focused on programs that support disabled residents, or DME billing support, or to advocate in favor of insurance covering OT services.

It's definitely a slow process towards better quality care with an eye on equity. We're trying to develop better advocacy with our students in contact with legislators.... Although it's unclear what will happen over the next four years here 🫣
