We need to talk this trend of 1st Amendment "Audits" at libraries. Educating people about FOIA, especially now, is valuable, and a wake up call is needed when we start taking our rights for granted so much we don't realize when we've lost them. But this method is damaging to its own cause.

Lilo and Stitch has always hit me deep in my core like no other Disney movie has. My family was a hot mess family. My parents were divorced and my dad, for a lot of reasons I won't get into, was out of the picture. My mom worked her butt off so we could get by.

We literally saw the three bears at Milwaukee Zoo yesterday. The bigger two were being very sweet together and the smallest at one point had its chin resting on the ground with ian exasperated expression like it was thinkbing, "Ugh, gross. This again?" Practically a sitcom moment.

I just "It's Gonna Be Me'd" my family in the car to massive groans. Worth it. As I've often said to my partner, NO ONE will out dad-joke me. Not even a dad.

I thought it was the Year of the Snake. Turns out, in my house it's The Year of the Louse. We are not feeling celebratory.

Actually here, just reading and supporting more than posting. Good news to share though: the family worked on making a box of dog toys for a shelter over the weekend. It reminded me that I want us to volunteer as a family more and this year feels an especially good time to start.

Why hasn't someone found a way to out-FB FB? As far as I can tell, no social platform is really offering a comparable experience and they own everything. Ahh...a monopoly. Just answered my own question.

Sorry, everyone! Threads got its hooks into me and now I have to figure out how to unhook myself. I'm so tired of having perfectly good platforms ruined by hate. Either at the user level or admin.

If it's possible, my cough has gotten worse in spite of a new dose of meds so I am so done with this week.

I have arrived on this train dressed in red plaid, with a red plaid purse and legit have a bag of Christmas cookies in my purse. I think I became Mrs. Clause.

PSA for people who may pet sit for friends or family: For the love of Pete don't disregard dietary or sleep instructions. It throws them off and can leave the owner with a huge uphill retraining battle when they come home.

Several days and after having to listen to many, many, *many* (justified) tangents about my sister's ex and I'm at the point where I'm like, "Can *I* divorce him?"

Well, I haven't cried at work for at least a year I want to say, so I'm still going to count this as a win.

I've officially deactivated my X account. I won't miss it at all but I will miss some of the people. The only comfort is that there's no way Muskrat won't continue to run this fully into the ground and maybe I'll see some of them again elsewhere.

Somehow struggling out of bed and trying to contemplate how to do work today and send our kids off to school when the world is burning.

I think things have gone from "Are these people okay???" to "oh, they're way way beyond 'not okay' and the only question will be how many people they'll try to hurt. The rage is chilling. It's a little like being in a zombie apocalypse movie only the zombies get to run for office.

Potential hot take here: call out Melania for not using her influence for good, for cosigning Trump's nonsense, for the "I don't really care" coat, for stealing Michelle's speech, hell, call her out for terrible taste in Christmas decorations...

So as craft therapy I took on *this* and I'm pretty pleased with it. The great thing about building and painting a haunted dollhouse is that if it looks ramshackle and busted, it's even more in character.

Gather round, my children, and let me tell you the saga of how my sister's doctors will almost certainly kill her before the #cancer does. Is this normal? Is this another way our country is broken? I'm genuinely asking.

This week I am surrounded by sick people (and am now fighting something myself) so I can't be with my sister for this week's treatment. I'm just throwing this out there people... Maybe consider masking again if you aren't currently? It's entering flu season & so many people I know got COVID again.

Well, it's happened. My giant water bottle sprung a leak, so I've gotten a Stanley knock off, partly because the tapered end means I finally have a water bottle that fits in a standard cupholder.

Another day, another paperwork nightmare. I guarantee you people have died in this country over loopholes in paperwork or insurance policies stopping them from getting treatment and it makes me livid.

Wild. Apparently Columbia College in Chicago is looking to shut down 18 of its majors, including *Creative Writing* which was one of the best things it was known for. I know so many fantastic writers and creative people that graduated from that school.
