This really isnt my experience living in a red state though. I mean, it is true for the Fox News Bots. But it is disengenuous to act like this is the view of normal people.

In practice, no. There are too many legal ramifications for choosing not to pay your taxes. My Wife is a state employee and she would instanrly lose hwr job for not being in good standing tax-wise.

I think we need to dispense wirh the idea that tge average american voter cares. Obviously theee are Americans that do, but among the ones that actually VOTE, they desire a state of economy that punishes "The Others" even if it affects them in the process.
