they were the first to adopt usb-c way back in the 2015 macbook
the usb-c spec (+ thunderbolt) was co-designed by apple + several other companies
this is also the case for things like webXR, webGPU, qi wireless charging, etc
it’s just that for corpo reasons, apple is so slow to adopt things
