Soledad: Sometimes community priorities do not match policy-makers', so it is also the responsibility of scientists to support communities with the information and data that they need - and in time community pressure can result in shifting policymaker priorities.

#CSPC2025: Chair of #INGSAAfrica, Shaheen Motala-Timol. Historical legacies still shape how policy is made. And despite having a large percentage of the global population, Africa has a tiny percentage of the global research budget. This is a major concern for having tailored data to work with

Marcus Prutsch: Academic Freedom - it might not be an evil plan by governments to undermine academic freedom, but it might be subconscious, in the way that funding is handed out or the social narrative. As a researcher your options can be limited by these subtle means.

INGSA-VP, Soledad Quiroz: Canada invests 1.8% GDP in research - Latin America invests 0.5% GDP. And it is not evenly shared. So resources are severely limited.

In Canada ~15 scientists per 1000 people, in Chile, 1 scientist per 1000 ppl. And for many countries, there just isn't the data. #CSPC2025

Marie-Christin Thierrien: We are in a time where crises are permanent - housing, environmental, economic etc - cities are at the forefront of both localised and global crises. How is knowledge made actionable, and cities supported with the best possible evidence

#CPSC2025: Marie-Christine Therrien - There is a real need to look at #scienceadvice in municipal levels - Crisis management, intro of AI, climate change - all areas that require evidence to shape policy - but do cities have the capacity to optimise this?
