I like making things, reading things, and petting things (consensually).

Found some faces while playing with modeling clay with my niece.

My mom's cat, Amelia, somehow discovered a way to get behind the dishwasher. It took a little trial and error to lure her out, because it turns out she's smarter than we are.

We found a couple of baby bluebirds hopping around in our backyard. Probably kicked out of the house early (drinking? Drugs? General tomfoolery?) Luckily, I was able to convince the dogs to disregard them. I saved them, and they didn't even say "thank you". Instead, I got a death glare.

The miracle of life?

Here's the thing: baby animals are usually cute. Even baby turtles and snakes. But baby birds are nightmare material.

When you tell a child...
"You're so cute!" -> Looks are the most important thing
"You're special!" -> False confidence is inflated
"Good boy!" -> Approval from others becomes the goal

Reason #342 I prefer having dogs to children. I feel no guilt calling him my special, cute, good boy.

I made a hat for my friend, Neil, who loves the Minnesota Wild hockey team. I call it the Wild Wild Neil hat, because I'm hilarious.

I just caught up on the missives from the Dino Wars by @margaret.bsky.social, and now I don't know what to do with myself.

Do you think if I bribe her with cute pictures of my dogs sleeping, that might encourage her to write more?

Does this count?

I found a newspaper clipping my grandma saved. It was about a midwife who lived in her hometown. In 1932, the midwife was called to a home to deliver twins, but the roads were impassible. The prose this newspaper writer dreamt up... Phenomenal.

Why yes, I do have a photograph of a Lord of the Rings movie playing on the TV in my childhood house...

Her need to be cuddling her brother is so great, that it outweighs her need to breathe.

The loaf I made tonight looks much better than the one I made yesterday. Progress!

Totally normal way to use blankets.

I'm baking bread for the first time in years.

He is risen. He is risen indeed.

(Recipe used is from Healthy Bread in Five Minutes a Day, which is why the dough is so wet)

I was cuddling with the dog when I yawned. She licked me in the mouth. I freaked out, and my husband said, "I saw that about to happen." I asked why he didn't say anything, and he said, "It was cute."

This is why I have trust issues.

Photo of said dog included.

Sometimes it's hard to be mad at them...

But don't worry, I still manage it.
