German here. I have family in the States. I used to travel every year for visits. I am not traveling to the USA anymore. Would not want to end up in a detention center. There was a time in German history when we were pretty much at the same point as you are. Don’t make the same mistakes we made.

I am a European. My taken on this is: a country that is so divided, has a hollowed out democracy and civil society & did vote Trump in (even though only 50%) and is turning full scale autocracy, siding with Russia and throwing all partners under the bus can’t be trusted anymore. Even after Trump.

Ich befürchte ja. Und da die Zivilgesellschaft dort kaputt und erschöpft zu sein, die Demokraten unfähig Scheinen das zu verhindern, sehe ich schwarz. Für die USA und für Europa. Überhaupt die, die sich mal als „Westen“ bezeichnet haben.
