📌 So in the interest of curating a good feed full of smut discourse, I'm gathering all of the romance-y starter packs I know about into one thread. 🧵

(If you know of others please LMK and I'll add them)

Texas bookish folks, another update on this bill: The Senate version (SB2101) is being heard by the Committee on State Affairs tomorrow, April 28.

Here's a link where you can email all the committee members to oppose at once, via Texas Freedom to Read Project:

The committee is holding a hearing on this bill *tomorrow* (Monday) so if you're planning on leaving a comment, NOW IS THE TIME
Hey Texas folks, there's a new book ban being debated in the legislature. HB3225 would ban minor access to "sexually explicit" books in all public libraries (not school libraries, public libraries), with no opt-in / opt-out options.

I’ve been reviewing romance novels for 5? years now with my sister/friend, and let me assure you that no amount of stats or evidence will ever convince you that you should be doing the things that make you feel fulfilled if those things don’t fit in the “right” box. Do it anyway. Just do it.

Just look at this absolute BEAUT of a thrift store find I scored today for $1.25—the spine is completely crease-free. The embrace. The dress falling off the shoulder. The foreground of flowers. @smutreport.com knows I didn’t read Bertrice Small back in the day but this seems like a sign…duel??!

We do this feature at @smutreport.com where we do our level best to describe the vibes of various romance authors, and I really love it for new readers seeking a new catalog to enjoy. This week we feature Elva Birch! smutreport.com/2025/02/25/a...

I've been thinking about this and at first I assumed it was just a dumb error—like the title was too spicy and got caught in a weird filter.

But now I'm wondering. Because so many of the stories people share as part of this feature is about them learning about their identities…
Apparently our My First Smut feature is too spicy for Meta now—this is the second one that's been taken down from our facebook page for "nudity and sexual content."

(This was never an issue until 47 took office and Zuck decided that moderation was off the table. For some stuff anyways.)

Just recorded another podcast for next month, laughed a ton, and let me tell you that when they say the antidote to what’s going on in the world right now is connection…I think they’re right.

Went to a night hosted by the local public library for romance novel fans!! Keep an eye on your local library events, those librarians know how to have a good time on a Saturday night. 📚

Would very much like to be a pile of non-sentient moss right now, so a bit hard to want to read anything…but then I remembered one of my fav introvert books, You, Me, and the Sea by Elizabeth Haynes. Blustery, isolated island with a shaggy dog and a man who cooks and has secrets. Delicious tension.

We always end with some recs, but Ingrid frequently forgets books, so her rec is also a scavenger hunt.

Anyone know what this book is? #romancelandia
