Not-so-recent cup finally outta the kiln with the letterpress type texture.

Fresh tea bowl setting the pace for my cup game. Very much enjoy the slight transparency / darker tone that the glossy brings to the thin slip pours and the textural contrast between glossy and uncoated areas. #Informatted #Stoneware #Studiopottery #Pottery #Mnartist #Matthewedmondsceramics

Tiny double closed forms opened box on sculptural element drying. May or may not add a bit more slip to soften the high contrast before bisque, or not. Hmmm. #Studiopottery #Pottery #Stoneware #Ceramicarts #Informatted #Matthewedmondsceramics

Letterpress cups with knobs came through bisque just fine, mostly, with one reverting to the oval it was for a moment. :-/ Small batches means slow movement towards desired / favorable results. Poco a poco. #Informatted #Studiopottery #Pottery #Stoneware #Mnartist #Matthewedmondsceramics

Half dozen fussy cups lined up for a bisque, these have impressed letterset type making patterns, which I like very much and I am inclined to repeat despite it being an old “hippie pot” thang as it means more than “decoration” to me. #Studiopottery #Ceramicarts #Ceramics #Pottery #Informatted

A handful of large cups in the works with letter press type patterns pressed into them, they are barbed with little finger rests for ease of use for smaller hands. #Studiopottery #Pottery #Ceramicarts #Mnartist #matthewedmondsceramics #informatted

Two Closed Forms Opened box with zogan (aka Mishima) surface (inlaid porcelain). Largest opened sculpture I’ve pulled off to date. So many ideas in this vein to chase, yet so little time. Poco a poco. #Mnartist #Studiopottery #Ceramicarts #Pottery #Sculpture #Informatted #Matthewedmondsceramics

Here is another “Closed Forms Opened” box, a line of work currently in stoneware made by throwing two closed forms on the wheel, opening them, then combining. #Studiopottery #Ceramicarts #Pottery #Stoneware #Sculpture #Informatted #Mnartist #Matthewedmondsceramics

Just great to see so many thousands gathered together to fight for ALL the issues worth fighting for! Do what you can when you can as often as you can! Si se puede! #Inspiration #Handsoff

Here is a large rattle rattle box drying, easily the largest form that I’ve made inspired by the tiny citrus sculpture sketches. It was made by throwing 4 closed forms, opening, and combining them. #Studiopottery #Ceramicarts #Pottery #Clay #Inspiration #Matthewedmonds #Informatted #Mnartist

Art Pause: CU on a larger in-process (now drying) piece made with 4 closed forms that have been opened. Like the citrus sculpture sketches, the original closed forms contain multitudes, and the process of opening them (to me) is not unlike unwrapping a gift. “What is this thing? What can it be?”

Another pair of closed forms, opened & combined to make a box with sculptural element. A line of work in stoneware (at this moment), inspired by the citrus sculpture sketches I’ve been doing during winter months for years. #Ceramicarts #Clayart #Studiopottery #Pottery #Sculpture #Informattedmonds

Close phone picts of a sculptural element on another box made by throwing 2 closed forms, then opening and combining them. (As of yet this is the only piece with two feet:P) Love how extra large “finial” sculpture makes user hesitant to open box. #Ceramics #Clay #Studiopottery #Stoneware

Two closed forms opened, small flower top box, zogan surface — the first example put out there in public of the stoneware work that I’ve been exploring based on the citrus sculpture sketches. #Clay #Ceramics #Stoneware #Pottery #Sculpture #Matthewedmondsceramics #Informatted #Mnartist #Inspiration

Blood Orange Sculpture Sketch, inspiration for some slow work occurring in stoneware. Hope you are well as possible and able out there.

Another citrus sculpture sketch PSA? Will he ever quit? (No.) If your headed to protest at your capital or city hall @ 12 today and it’s -14, where you are too, don’t be stupid and get frostbite (like I once did, during gulf war protest) they are useful things for further resistance. :) #Inspiration

Citrus sculpture sketch —inspiration for recent stoneware work PSA. These little sculptures that inspire me involve no fear, worry, or anger. Please do look for similar joys in your life, so you will have presence of mind to Resist. #Ceramics #Stoneware #Sculpture #Inspiration #Informatted

Front n back of another of “Arp’s Dead White Squirrels”, a porcelain sculpture from a while ago. Made these as a comment back when it seemed Arp’s forms were being mined by multitudes. #Porcelian #Sculpture #Mnartist #Ceramic #Clay #Matthewedmondsceramics

A week ago, I wrote a piece here called “Is It Really a Coup?” My answer, based on the evidence in front of us, was yes.

Citrus sculpture sketch PSA—inspiration for ceramics work of the moment. Life lately is plump full of terrors, but have you noticed how pretty the sky still can be? Put down the tech, breathe and <3 your neighbors. #Inspiration #Studiopottery #Ceramics #Stoneware #Matthewedmondsceramics #Mnartist
