Getting more dynamic range with Fujifilm jpgs is so easy!
Just bump the Iso +1 stop past base to enable the DR menu then choose DR200 and the camera secretly captures 1 stop below what you picked to save the highlights and pushes the shadows up in processing. :P

This month im embracing some self compassion and allowing myself to make some bad art while I learn new things. No pressure or fear of failing just the goal of starting and doing and learning. You have to give yourself room to not be perfect if you want to grow.

Hey check out one of my recent photo projects. These two had such great details which is always a treat to capture. We lucked out with the weather too!
Maidens of the Spear
Chiad and Bain from the Wheel of Time (Amazon series). These were a 2-month, 2-person effort to bring to life. Erin handled all fabric parts, I made all leathers and weapons (with 3d print help). I couldn't be more proud 🧡

As an artist that loves rethinking process and techniques I can tell you that the one thing that isn't productive is frequently rethinking your motive for why you make things. Just find your reason and lean into it and save the identity crisis energy for making actual art.

This tutorial by Jeremy Vickery is great practice for photographers as well as painters. If you can't draw just download a coloring book for practice and think about where the light should go for impact and mood.

Getting comfortable with being uncomfortable as I do more with video. I am finding problems with every attempt but also learning fast from mistakes and gaining powers. Sometimes you just have go suck at something for a while until you don't. As long as you don't give up you'll get there.

All of my photo art has a really fun memory tied to it. Either visiting a location or running into unique people or even things going wrong we laugh about now. It's like a surreal scrapbook of fantasy anchors to moments in reality. I don't want any of those memories to just be well I typed a prompt.

I appreciate this platform letting me operate at the speed of an artist vs cranking out daily nonsense under threat of being being restricted. Recently I found ig demotes single image posts. I'm no Leonardo da Vinci but imagine the insanity of Mona Lisa getting tossed because it's only one painting.

The best thing I've gotten from cosplay is a deeper awareness and sense of empathy for other people especially those different from myself. Art opens the heart to listening and learning.

One of my secret curves that I use while editing to get shapes talking to each other at the right intensity. This really helps control where the eye travels throughout the image and at what velocity.
