first two thirds go off in an amazing direction that ultimately feels too good for the ending. getting the feeling after a couple episodes serling would look at the “man in suit” ideal of don draper much as one would sephiroth today

as 2025's winding down i can't help but feel genuine sadness that these songs are probably going to have to compete with one another for most of awards season. like i genuinely don't know if i could say i prefer one or the other, i think they both would have walked away with it any other year

was curious which movies i’ve ranked lower than tomorrowland and honestly, i think i stand by most of these. maybe i’d take half a star off lion king 2019 and give it to van helsing cos it’s not good at all but hardly worse than lion king 2019

on the one hand i think a lot of the ep was just fine but on the other, i liked the ending - it’s the kind of idea that runs dangerously close to feeling like a moralizing copout but for the most part i felt they pulled it off

so the reason that i’d never do like lupin special rankings or whatnot is because there’s no emotional impetus. i try really hard to find a guiding emotion to hold it together as well as a subject i’m already reasonably knowledgeable about. if i only have one or the other it has to wait

as an editor there is nothing more important than preserving the artistic intent of the creator. doctoring footage to promote your own beliefs is not only an underhanded breach of trust, it's entirely unethical. and as a PROFESSIONAL, i would never ONCE consider such a gross abuse of power, EVER

i give my patrons movie night options which will all be fun/lend itself to good bits/essay relevant to some extent but i appreciate that they INNATELY knew there was an absolute whopper on the table this month

my first (and to this day only) exposure to kurosawa was watching "kagemusha" in a college class and that really is a movie that lives and dies on nakadai's performance. if you've not seen it yet you've got no better opportunity
