A goegeous golden sun is just climbing free from low clouds on the ocean horizon. Soft rays are streaming out, and the sky all around is gold, ranging from old gold to pale yellow. Below the sea is a dusky blue, and below that again rolling tree-covered hills can just be made out, dark against the golden blaze. The right half of the landscape is partly masked by the dense silhouette of a close eucalypt, the fine yet sparse outlines of leaves and branches a dense black counterpoint to the bright sky. There is a forest for #ForestFriday, but you can't really see it 😄

A golden sunrise over sea. A series of dragged-brushstroke clouds grow gradually denser fro, overhead to quite heavy on the horizon, over the sea. Overhead the sky is pale blue and the cloud white tinged with yellow, but as we look lower and further away the colour rapidly intensifies and grows deeper until above the horizon it is a glowing, lambent rose gold. Below, the sea is a dull slate blue, and the land beneath barely visible hazy ridges. The scene is framed by the partial silhouettes of two nearby trees.

A dramatic cloudscape just before dawn. Two cloud systems provide contrasting colours, shapes and textures across the sky. A high, relatively blank blanket of cloud is lit bright pink, silhouetting lower ragged cumulus which are still dove grey. Light sky can be seen intermittently through both systems, while below street lights and house lights still glow, reflected in the river, and the ferry terminal is a blaze of light.

The aftermath of a storm, golden hour, 18/10 17:51+10. The dominant feature in the sky is a fairy flat, dark blue blanket of mid-level cloud with ragged edges, although through a gap though we can see not only blue sky, but the brightly illuminated tops of higher cumulus sitting above and behind, while lower down is a diffuse band of very low raincloud lit dull pink by the almost-set sun. Running along the bottom of the image is a dark skyline of buildings. Also there is a plane, dwarfed by the elements. It's a reminder of the power of nature, but also that there is always calm and blue sky after a storm.

A sunrise. A low bank of cloud on the horizon creates a second skyline above the dark ridgeline silhouetted below. While the risen sun is completely obscured. it's light sets a bright line of fire along the edges of the clouds, and fills the foggy air above with a diffused radiance and the shadows of the clouds.
