Toronto #policywonk and urban nerd. Metalhead. Have been known to laugh so I don't cry.
Ok but how many of the programs were only begun in the last 10 years, and is there a market for their graduates?

Your bus is not freedom enough.
November 21, 2025 at 12:08 AM
Yeah, it's wild to me how many positions are elected in the US compared to here.
November 20, 2025 at 1:44 PM
Isn't it though? They keep voting in people who keep making these kinds of deals.

It seems late stage capitalism has sent us all the way back to feudalism. 🫠

Canadian here....

You -elect- your controllers?!!!
November 20, 2025 at 2:24 AM
Oh jeez I didn't even think of disallowance ..... Probably because nobody has used it and constitutional scholars debate its legitimacy. I doubt Carney would try it given the electoral split....
November 19, 2025 at 5:54 PM
Should Carney try a constitutional amendment?

Those didn't go so well the last couple times.

It was a bit of a fatal flaw for the Bill of Rights that we somehow managed to avoid coming to terms with for ...40ish years?

Honest question, what can be done?
November 19, 2025 at 1:17 AM
How does this not violate the Health Canada Act?
November 18, 2025 at 3:08 PM
So when will everyone start calling them the Rape-publican party?
November 18, 2025 at 3:03 PM
💯 And take note, dear public, of the fact it is mostly populists and parties ideologically opposed to considering evidence who call for defunding or the privatization of CBC.

In an era of fake news and propaganda we need the fourth estate to be less, not more, beholden to $$$

What makes you call JMM a bought and paid for conservative, exactly?
November 16, 2025 at 4:11 PM
Disagree with your take on JMM, he is consistently one of the most fair and moderate journalists out there on Ontario politics.

💯 ....I used to love UFC back in the St Pierre Silva Machida days as a former martial artist, but the "culture" surrounding it got gross so I stopped watching.

Weird, those green bits are also (mostly) the bits whose councillors opposed allowing *checks notes* sixplexes.

We absolutely have room in the inner and outer burbs. Look forward to your piece.
November 16, 2025 at 3:20 PM
I don't disagree OPs shouldn't be rigid and definitely need to leave room for each muni to be creative. I also think there's room to make these documents clearer, more user friendly, more accessible for citizens and planners.
November 15, 2025 at 2:54 PM
Finally! It only took.... 12 years?
November 15, 2025 at 2:49 PM
I'm no fan of the premier, for the record.

But let's perhaps agree some municipalities use their official plans to block even the gentlest of change, and do cities really need 20+ low density designations? There is a balance... Some official plans are really long, really detailed and hard to use.
November 15, 2025 at 2:45 PM
The official plan stuff is not that much different than what Victoria AUS did, plus who knows if it is even possible at this point.

The bike lane / bus lane stuff is way more insidious and awful. Focus there.
November 15, 2025 at 3:57 AM
Hopefully it's fixed before 10 years from now.
November 14, 2025 at 10:01 PM
I suspect that's the point ....
November 14, 2025 at 7:07 PM
That would be awesome
