Yeah I periodically delete and rejoin this site because it’s primarily filled with abusive dirt bag assholes and frankly brain dead facebook users whose engagement with politics is more habit than reality. Though based on the amount you post you are more likely a spam account or just lifeless.

I genuinely see no reason to believe that nyt leadership would not welcome an authoritarian state where they could serve as town criers of the regime. Based on almost every piece of reporting they’ve done since Jan 2025 they seem gleeful at the possibility.

This is despite that having no actual connection to reality and America being largely the leader of developed nations in regressive economic policy.

There are plenty of people in America who are believers in maga and the idea that most of the rest of the world is an authoritarian hellscape and America is some paragon of personal freedom/ rights.

Based on the commenters instagram profile it’s fairly apparent they are a real person but also heavily absorbed by the maga information space.

I mean Schumer and mills inactivity quite literally led to this outcome.

What they will likely do with in this effort to “crack down” is go after domestic opposition figures which previously were nominally backed by the U.S. but are no longer. It’ll give off the appearance of getting rid of collaborators domestically while actually getting rid of regime opponents.
