Not to say you have to agree with what he's saying, but I'd say these aren't right wing talking points and there's certainly no lack of passion (and soul) in what he's saying.

Too many. Including Democrat and independents.

AIPAC currently isn't the same as AIPAC 30 years ago. The Netanyahu government isn't the same as under Yitzhak Rabin, who got murder for trying to make peace.

Maybe the one asking has to be the candidate rather than some rando on social media?

So, on the question of acknowledging a victory ...

I'm sure he's been congratulating Mayor Aftab Pureval in person too.

Is there anything that could have tipped him off?
October 21, 2025 at 9:51 PM
The start of this discussion was the meaning of "bottom up" when talking about sweeping reforms.
The difference between actually listen to the opinions of different groups and integrating them in your decision vs. deciding *for* them based on your own (limited) insight.

Of course everyone was only interested in that bread-price-fixing stuff but he talked about being angry in that interview with the NYT editorial board in 2020 (recorded probably end of 2019).

I'd say he's "making the donor class comfortable" b/c he's competent and when he's talking about higher taxes for rich people the motivation is using that money efficiently to help poor people rather than make rich people cry.

Now that got me blocked fast ...

As comparison here's the list of donations under the category "Human rights" and "LGBTQIA Issues"

And the the numbers for "pro-Israel" for Bernie Sanders in 2020.

Gay or not, a lot more people like him and a lot less people hate him compared to Newsom (or Harris). It's not close. Maybe voters care about more than sexual orientation or race?

Maybe picking a running mate based on who voters seem to actually like rather than based on some part of their identity?

Did you look up the court documents? Why do you think there have been lawsuits that are still not resolved after 15 years if the law is as clear as you claim?

"Leadership is what you draw out of people.
It's about how you inspire people to act."

His vision is less easy to imagine b/c it includes a profound, systematic change of the political system and even society itself. Part of it is that he doesn't claim to have all the answers but instead wants them developed bottom up, and with the flexiblitiy necessary for reacting to the unknown.

There are some clips getting discussed of @petebuttigieg.bsky.social 's conversation on Pod Save America that were cut a little short.
Here are some additional clips.

On the "moral catastrophe" that's happening.

Nobody is talking about trans healthcare here.
75% oppose trans girls and women participating in sports according to their gender. You'd think reaching and changing the minds of at least those who vote for Democrats make sense.
August 7, 2025 at 1:08 PM
Bold strategy to call 75% of the population fascists. Or more if you add those who are against bans but still have questions. You can't chip away at those numbers in the way it's necessary by just calling people names.

Like Sarah McBride or Charlotte Clymer who have been saying virtually the same as he did?

The US does do.
That has nothing to do with the government operating plants though. But I'm sure you'd be thrilled if people could only buy formula based on a personal recipe from RFK jr. From a plant run by some Trump crony.

Sure. It's just "fair criticism" that people react to. Not all the "fucks" and accusations of "legitimizing Trump" for mentioning that government doesn't always function the way it should. A critique that's based on direct experience and his attempts to improve it.

I think an underrated reason why Pete's words get attention and stay in your memory is the flow and rhythm.
From being structured like a verse of a poem to a piece of classical music, with repetitions, changes in volume and tempo, contrasting themes and large arches.
