I’m not convinced that sending troops is going to help but it’s not just billionaires, crime is a huge nuisance for everyone in SF.

It’s a travel restriction, not a visa fee. The president can (unfortunately in this case) impose any restrictions on entry of noncitizens to the country.

I don’t know how much Bloomberg makes a year, but let’s assume it is $1 billion. 3% tax rate = 30 million. NYC’s total income tax receipts are about $15 billion a year, so his contribution would be 0.2%. That’s a lot!

It depends on the level of wealth we're talking about here. If Michael Bloomberg were to leave nyc for instance, it would obviously have a massive negative impact. Sprawling neighborhoods of wealthy boomers disappearing wouldn't probably matter as much.

They pay less taxes as a fraction of their income, but they still contribute a disproportionately large share of the city’s tax revenue.
