Such complexity needs not much but good old make and tooling. We convert those abstract formats to yaml and those go through a parser to generate valid lua tables. Control of the process is the difference. Glad I went this route, I am excited for making this game on the #playdate

In our game, you are a fisherman, and you decide to take pictures of the fish to make a journal (play for the plot). you can take pictures of parts and the game recognizes those. I am building assets in blender, painting in krita, even using godot for drawing those polygons.

Ex: this is a tool that helps me generate yaml files to translate text in our game using standard ISO strings for locales so I may have languages on the playdate that goes beyond english and japanese. It came to life as python but I rewrote it in a couple hours today in rust.
