As someone who spends a lot time thinking about the values I want to teach my kid (besides PLEASE DON’T EAT DIRT), the thing I keep coming back to is this: I want him to believe that the strongest, bravest thing he can do is give a shit about other people—especially ones who aren’t like him at all.

During COVID I lived in Belltown Seattle. We used to all go out & scream on our building roofs at 8pm. Every night there was a man who would start us off with an Indian chief yodel & eventually ppl all over the city joined in howling. & I just really feel like we should bring that whole thing back.

We really need some tactical organization & training. For hypothetical scenarios, of course. But personally, that’s just something I’d rather be prepared for than not. I’m not sure how to request this without seeming like it’s a call to violence? Because it’s not. It’s a call to logic & preparation.

On August 5th, 2023, my hangover finally lifted & it was the first true day of sobriety for me. I have not picked up a drink since.
I didn’t do it as a form of resistance but it’s definitely become that lately. Sobriety, & having my wits about me, might just be the best weapon in my arsenal.

The Austin, TX 50501 protest was amazing.
Best protest I’ve ever been to. The woman who lead, with the moth tattoo on her neck, did an AMAZING job with crowd control.
The police were not only polite, but they gave us an impromptu escort when we marched. Ppl were there from all walks of life.
