Ogerpon is easily one of my favourite new Pokémon from gen 9. Once again I much more prefer the main legendary from the first part of the DLC than the second. Terapagos is cute but not particularly exciting. I also quite like Raging Bolt and Okidogi even though I dislike the rest of the Loyal Three.

The Hidden Treasure of Arran Zero DLC for Pokémon Scarlet/Violet is great, definitely better than the DLCs we got in gen 8 and honestly they might even be better than the base game of gen 9. Both Kitakami and Blueberry Academy are very well designed and filled with great stories to boot.

Looking good for the first day of spring!

While I believe the game is amazing I can't say the same about this gen of Pokémon. I feel that the only good designs come in the form of new iterations of old Pokémon while all the new ones are pretty meh. I really like Clodsire, Farigiraf and most paradoxes but I wouldn't really call those "new".

It's been a while since I posted anything but truth be told I got lost in the sauce. And in this case the sauce is Pokémon Scarlet. Man that game is so good, it really is one of the best mainline Pokémon games. The way I described it to my friends is "it's an amazing game but a flawed product".

Going through challenges given by Mustard wasn't particularly hard but it was enjoyable and the reward being Kubfu was cool. Legendary hunting in Tundra was a solid idea for the story in theory however the execution was so bad I might have PTSD, especially from chasing Zapdos. Calyrex was cool tho.

After finishing the main storyline from the base Pokémon Shield it only made sense to play the DLCs and boy do I have opinions. Isle of Armor was pretty cool and I very much like Kubfu and Urshifu. Crown Tundra however was a chore with the abysmal catch rates for legendaries...

1982 - The Dreaming by Kate Bush
The Dreaming is often overshadowed by Hounds Of Love which is a damn shame cause it's deserving of way more attention than it gets. It's very similar to its follow-up and personally those differences are in favour of The Dreaming.

This wasn't a nuzlocke playthrough but I still want to highlight some of my favourite new designs that were great additions not only to my team but also to the Pokédex in general. Rillaboom, Coalossal, Toxtricity and Grimmsnarl were very fun to play with and I'll remember them fondly.

After rediscovering my passion for Pokémon I decided to give Sword/Shield a try. I skipped all the mainline games on Switch because of their supposed lack of quality but Legends Arceus made me reconsider that. And it turns out that SwSh is actually a darn good game even if it's far from perfect.

1983 - Synchronicity by The Police
The Police's final album is also their best one, which is a shame that they didn't continue although maybe it's better to go out with a bang rather than fade into obscurity. Synchronicity is delightfully weird which is the best quality a new wave album can have.

1984 - Diamond Life by Sade
Sade's debut album is smooth like butter and sweet as cherry pie. Her voice is enchanting which is only rivaled by the quality of her storytelling. It's one of the best debut albums and it's definitely more than just "the album with Smooth Operator".

1985 - Songs From The Big Chair by Tears for Fears
Tears for Fears' sophomore album is a prime example of a synthpop masterpiece. It checks every box to be considered a classic. Bombastic anthemic hits as well as more subtle and charming deep cuts make this one of my favourite albums from the 80's.

1986 - The Colour Of Spring by Talk Talk
There is absolutely no way 300 characters is enough for me to convey how much I adore this album. This is without a doubt in my mind the most beautiful album I've ever listened to and it's my favourite album of all time for some years now.

1987 - Tango in the Night by Fleetwood Mac
I love Rumours but '77 was an amazing year for music so I can't really pick that album for that year. However since '87 was not exactly plentiful in great albums Fleetwood Mac gets a spot with their often overlooked but still very good Tango in the Night.

1988 - Spirit Of Eden by Talk Talk
Spirit Of Eden is my preferred post rock album from Talk Talk although the differences between it and Laughing Stock are very minimal. Its otherworldly atmosphere never ceases to amaze me, it's immensly calming and yet quite intriguing at the same time.

This run had a food theme and my MVPs were Ramen the Swampert, Nigiri the Hariyama, Chicken the Swellow and Bean the Latias. Next time I replay ORAS I'm definitely going to play without mega evolutions to add some difficulty to this otherwise fairly easy challenge.
December 30, 2024 at 4:44 PM
After my failed Ultra Sun nuzlocke I went into something a bit more manageable and successfully finished an Alpha Sapphire run. This is definitely a much more newbie friendly game especially when playing without any extra restrictions. Free legendaries and mega evolutions definitely helped a lot.

1989 - Disintegration by The Cure
I know I'm repeating myself but what can I do other than give praise where it's due. Disintegration is yet another perfect album and it's yet another one of my absolute favourites. I guess after I'm done with this countdown I'll have to post that list as well.

1990 - Heaven or Las Vegas by Cocteau Twins
Late 80s and early 90s is easily my favourite period in music history. Another year and another perfect album which easily lands in my top 10 favourites of all time. Heaven or Las Vegas sounds just like that whimsical blur on its cover and I love it.

1991 - Loveless by my bloody valentine
What can I say about THE definitive shoegaze album that hasn't been said already. '91 was a stacked year and yet this is probably the easiest pick on this entire countdown. If you haven't listened to it yet do yourself a favour and just do it, preferably twice.

1992 - Automatic For The People by R.E.M.
I tried for a while but I can't really find any better description of this album other than pleasant. It's very much a comfort listen for me. Whenever I'm not sure what to listen to Automatic for the People is always there to put me in a good mood.

1993 - Souvlaki by Slowdive
I love music that I can get lost in so it only makes sense that I love shoegaze and dream pop as genres. It shouldn't surprise anyone that as a fan of those genres I absolutely adore Souvlaki. It's such a mesmerising album I just can't help but love it.

1994 - Dummy by Portishead
My year end list is done so it's time to come back to my countdown of favourites per year. Dummy has to be my favourite trip hop album of all time, it's an absolute classic and a masterpiece. It's one of my all time favourites and it's pretty much a perfect album.

#1 - Imaginal Disk by Magdalena Bay
This is without a doubt my favourite album this year. The Cure came close but I had to warm up to it but this was an instant hit. Ever since I first listened to it I knew this neo psychodelic synthpop album was something special and had a chance to be my number 1.
