If most other shows had a gorilla of a man so big several women could toss themselves over him like so much as decoration, to the point of looking like dolls, I'd grimace. Ninja vs Gokudo makes it so deeply funny just by rubbing its two brain cells together for what it needs atm.

This show is so beautifully, thoughtfully stupid in all the right ways. The strained reference to Fresh Precure as a throughline. The tonal whiplashes. Being as juvenile as the fiction its two main guys are deeply in love with. It's literally so good

Ganglion. Was kinda interested in this, but left bored? Well w/e, dropping stuff makes it that much cleaner to work through seasons. Now I just gotta get to one and wait for a couple others, although this season looks fairly set in stone anyway.

Also, to be more fannish: I'm not a default shipper even if I'm enthusiastic abt the Connections b/w charas but omg, this made me all soft to see. Okay, like, I'm always happy seeing Umi OR Eli but this is fucking ADORABLE.

So much of the show is just like that and there's attention spread throughout, at least a little beyond The Basics. I really enjoyed seeing Hanayo and Rin toughen up near the end, and the gang bring out the gentler side of Eli's aggressive drilling.

And is the sorta stuff that makes me go "Oh yeah I see why people were raging about this years ago." Then there are ngl kinda simple sequences like this that, although nothing bombastic, imo LLSIP's workmanlike efforts that keep momentum and general dynamism b/w all on the phone call

Is fundamentally really sweet w/o being saccharine and suitably about pursuing passion in and of itself, existing in a framework that goes beyond any particular audiovisual discipline while neatly tying the disparate studies together.

In no particular order: I like how the bg girls believably exist as their own separate people at least as designs? Never mind "having faces," fr forgotten how many bg charas across the board, even mobs given visual focus, have not been able to, like, really feel completed.

Love Live SIP episode 8 was pretty fun! It's been, uuh, months since watching it, and the funny thing about slowly watching it over... the span of a year now is I keep incientally finding things to appreciate about its production even when it runs against the limitations of what it is.
