Yes. No siblings and neither parent. I know that mine was triggered by a medical event because I went into the hospital with normal blood sugar levels and 2 weeks later they were in the diabetic range.

We have Type 1 and Type 2 in ours. Since I am Type 2 (triggered after my first miscarriage) the others in my family include an aunt and an uncle.
