When I asked people about why the UK didn’t immunize against the chickenpox, I was told it was to keep the virus active in the community so that the elderly didn’t lose their immunity and get shingles. When I pointed out that a shingles vaccine existed, I was told that it was really about cost.

One of my children was born in the UK, so she didn’t get the chicken pox vaccine. Then she got the chicken pox as a baby. She got a secondary bacterial infection that we didn’t catch right away (y’know because she had the chicken pox) that almost hospitalized her.

There was absolutely nothing in any course that I taught that was required for licensure. Everything in my courses would need to be approved by the dean. Heaven forbid I teach the students about equity when I taught about fair allocation problems.

It’s just morally reprehensible to say an immigrant “took” a house from a citizen, when what they actually did was bought it (or rented it) with their own money that they earned by producing something of value.
