Can't believe Keymer's been staring at Pragg for 6 years already

I feel like #chesspunks over here are less into solving puzzles than over there. But let's still try!

Can you find a winning idea for Black here? 🤨

This f5 looks crazy against the Scholar's mate. But it's good!

Oh, interesting. I guess in the Scotch, if we take dxc6, it usually allows Qxd8 Kxd8 (so we end up in an unpleasant endgame with the king in the middle). In the lines, with no Qxd8, Black can take dxc6 as well if they want to.
In the position below, both captures are good.

So I got curious about this platform ChessBook. It offered a pretty exciting feature of finding opening mistakes in my games...

I always get upset when I show my students one of those ...e5 pawn pushes in the Sicilian and they don't scream "but it's bad!" #chess

Commentators: 'Ding goes for d5 instead of Na7! He's asserting dominance, sending a psychological message to Gukesh!'

Ding: 'I didn't see Na7 😄'

White to win.

It's relatively easy to find a winning idea. But try to calculate it precisely until you're confident. It may help you in your future games 🙂

A positional exercise from my blitz game.

White to play. What to do?

From my blitz game on lichess.

White to play. What would you do?

Just played a fun game against a GM on lichess.
In the position below, things looked really bad.
I'm losing a knight and there was no real compensation.

But then I saw this little trap which he actually fell into: 1...Bf5! 2.Qxf5?? Qc5+ 3.Be3 Nf3+, winning the queen.
