I’m not sure if its purely Calvinism, I get the feelings it’s the worship of ‘vakantie’ which means a certain servile attitude is expected? My holiday is sacred and nobody is allowed to inconvenience my in any way, that sort of thing.

Never hate my fellow dutch people more than when on holiday. Not quite sure what brings out the attitude even worse there but it's absurd. And I've always had a good experience in France...
