Someone pointed out that this is one of just a few movies with diminishing action. Where most movies rise to a climax this one starts stressful and gets progressively more chill as the film goes on.

Sometimes, especially if you don't have time for lots of back-and-forth, putting the responsibility on the artist while pointing out that you care and you're paying attention is the best course of action.

I was doing post-audio on a commercial, and the email said, "We did want to make sure all the SFX were working great." That's it. No follow-up.

I rewatched it recently too and felt the same way. So much sci-fi from that period dealt with "Science vs Faith" in a way that always struck me as being based on incorrect assumptions about both. btw Piranesi is probably the best and most profound exploration of this theme I've read.
