The irony is that even if it was because schools have lacked focus, why have they lacked focus? I don’t suppose it would be anything to do with their Estyn recommendations? 🙄
It might be news to Estyn - but schools focus on what Estyn tell them to focus on because the IV will be round the corner!

At the beginning of the learning trajectory when pupils have little prior knowledge they require direct instruction, as their expertise and knowledge grows they would benefit from exploring their understanding with more fluidity and autonomy, so enquiry comes into its own.
