It is done. "Feeding Russia" will turn into a book in due time but now it is time to celebrate.

Collateral research story: Vladislav Gubert wrote in 1905 a rare account of the hunger crisis and famine relief at the time. He was a distinguished medical scholar, who survived revolution, civil war, terror, without changing his Petersburg address, but died of hunger in the siege of Leningrad.

I'm kicking off a new project on Monday.
Once the other books are done, I'll be throwing myself fully into the environmental history of Poland, Britain and Germany
I'm looking forward to exploring a new field and meeting new friends and colleagues !

New procrastination level: digging up old AAASS/ASEEES conference programs. A lot has changed since 1964 but how about we bring back and rephrase the informal dinner talk: "What are we doing?"

Man kann den Krieg durchaus zum Gegenstand im Wahlkampf machen (sollte man sogar), aber der "kühle Kopf" ist keine Strategie sondern lediglich eine Tugend ohne Wert, wenn man Ausmaß u. Kalkül der 🇷🇺 Invasion herunterspielt.
