It is (still) to laugh.

Humor and random remarkables here.
I don't follow back.
There are many excellent musicals, but this is the top tier imho:
Les Miserables
Fiddler on the Roof
Oliver
Phantom of the Opera

Enjoy.

I dunno...I kind of liked "lore Epstein files". Sometimes typos are poetic.

This has to make a big impression on future Japanese free agents.

As I recall - and I may be wrong - Ohtani (and Yamamoto) was less effective when pitching on less than a full 5 days of rest? That's what really compelled the Dodgers to go to their 6 man rotation. I that what you remember?

Yep. Every fence needs a gate.

Wait, why does Qatar want an airbase in Idaho, or anywhere the US?

Unfortunately, there's no such thing as a "minor hamstring injury". If they put him on the IL he'll have to miss the NLCS. If they don't they're playing a man short, unless he's well enough to pinch hit or bunt.

Just curious, did MLB provide any explanation as to why the start times are different if it's the Yankees or the Red Sox? They're both in the Eastern time zone.

SMH. I wish we had a chance to see Ward in the bigs. I'll be very interested to see where he goes and how he does from here.

And the two outs he got were gifts. It looked like he was afraid to throw the fastball - and for good reason, it keeps getting ripped.
I get why Dave is sticking with Treinen and Scott, but it's time - it's past time - to try others in the closer role. This simply cannot happen in the playoffs.

Wow. Breaking a record set in 1890 (hopefully). Ho hum, just another mind boggling Ohtani stat. I had to look up (the immortal) Hub Collins. www.baseball-reference.com/players/c/co...

Speaking of HS Kim... What's his role now? Do you know? He seems to be an invisible man. His last 3 games: 9/8, 9/10, 9/14, a total of 4 ABs, 3 of them K's. All ugly. But if they're not going to play him, why not send him to OKC and bring up Freeland? Is he being kept mainly as a pinch runner now?

Detroit is spiraling. They're in danger of falling from the number 3 seed, as a division winner, to the number 6 seed as a wild card team. And with Boston only one game behind, they're also in danger of missing the playoffs altogether. An epic collapse in the making.

Now you have to wonder if the same is true for Brock Stewart? But I don't blame them. It's now or (maybe) never. I'd do the same.

Wow.

Did you see the "✝️Charlie Kirk✝️" written on the side of his cap just now?

The remarkable stat on that page is that Brett Butler got 108 walks one year. He's one of my all-time favorite players. It's just amazing that a speed guy who had no power, and who tried to bunt every AB, could get 108 walks. Gotta love Brett Butler.

Gotta love Mookie. A very good man.

I'll be interested to see where Ryan Ward goes and how he performs in MLB next year, assuming he finally gets his break. He's a free agent now.

On the other end of the spectrum, it made me smile to see that at 3.2 WAR Zach McKinstry is one of the better infielder in the AL. Go Zach!

So did you happen to ask if the Dodgers will use a base stealer as their 26th man in the playoffs? And who might that be? They obviously prefer Justin Dean over Esteury Ruiz for his ++ defense, but he's under-utilized IMO, and the playoffs are different. Does George give them enough speed + defense?

So if you're Salazar what do you do? You're a rookie. But you can't just let that shit pass. I'd be very tempted to pop him, right there on the mound or in the dugout.
September 3, 2025 at 3:33 PM
Agree. The good news is that he's had good stuff since his return. Today the fastball was 98-99, and the sweeper was breaking well. The problem was inconsistent command. Again. Perdomo's blooper was a good pitch, a sweeper on the inside edge. But Marte and Carroll hit fastballs over the middle.

Ironic that Friedman never signs big, long-term contracts for relievers, and only did so this year because he was trying to build a team for the ages. The irony is that all the big contracts - not just Scott's - have created a cancer of complacency. '23 Mets Syndrome. Cure: "addition by subtraction"

Agree. But this time there isn't a plausible excuse. First it was the 7-9 hitters in a slump; then the key pitchers went on the IL; then the 1-4 hitters slumped. There's no excuse now. But the regular season doesn't really matter much for the Dodgers. It's all about the playoffs. And they know it.
