Daniel Kehlmann's Lichtspiel (published in English as 'The Director ') is a standout read to cap 25 and set the bar for 2026. A deeply human protagonist, though thought a genius, is confused, compromised and tossed about on the waves of history, fortune, fate.

Today's Bosch card. Not much separates Thanatos and Eros. Both would launch their arrow.

Today's Bosch card. An anastatic Christ, enthroned and revealing stigmata. I'm reminded of Crowley's chosen magickal name: 'Perdurabo', I will endure.

Screw that Vetruvian Man gold disc BS. We should be sending a box of these into space to demonstrate our credentials.

This is brilliant. Classics stuff you can actually read without feeling like you're getting sloppy seconds after a former Prime Minister.

I'm reading Tim Binding's 'Beneath the Trees of Eden' and its the strangest thing. The setting is England, late 20th C, but the characters are somehow... shamanic?... unbounded by convention, by quotidian reality. I would love to know how Tim found them, nurtured them.

This weekend marks the 6 month "anniversary"of my daily TM practice. I'm not the one to judge if I've become better/calmer/more creative (re-read with Radiohead voice). But I do know that I enjoy it every time I start that mantra.

Mid-build coffee break. This is my first "board" as such (have had most of the pedals for years). Largely used for ambient beds behind bass (I often capo in "extended guitar" range - call me weird if you want) or guitar with sustainer pick up. #pedalboard

Bought a new vinyl album. For the first time since about 1991. My transition to ageing pseud is complete. "Nice".

Mark out the points, build the pyre.
Assemble different drummers, light up the fire.
Put on your masks and animal skins.
Illumination! Illumination!
