No, the route will not change dramatically. The construction will be phased, but the development won’t be, not really. What Kingston can expect is its current VIA routes being upgraded to frequent 200 km/h service (once folded into ALTO), but it will not be included in this 300 km/h greenfield line.

There will be a downtown station for Montreal. It’s going to be… an interesting solution. 🤐

Those two VIA routes will ultimately be folded into ALTO. However, as the high speed train project is resource extensive, passengers should not expect much improvements on the current VIA routes between the three cities in the interim.

There will be no station outside of the mandated station listed.

Nope, fuck yeah actually. We don’t need the manufactured outrage. Phasing this and starting with the more manageable segment is THE way to get the ball rolling and actually get this done. Anyone seething over this can sit their ass down.

Got to give my thanks to @craigsauve.bsky.social and @transitionmontreal.bsky.social supporters. If it weren’t for leftist purism, we wouldn’t have won so many seats and flipped boroughs. It was a close call in my district, but we were able to get @projetmontreal.org out! Let’s go Team Soraya ❤️
