Ukrainian. Neutral good.

Can't talk right now, busy doing neurospicy burnout shit.
Also, it is a label precisely because it's intended to be informational. If we suspected that you're actually engaged in disinfo campaigns - you'd already be on our "Disinfo" list.

Besides that, you didn't take time to check which of the accounts you mentioned we've already covered (spoiler: a lot), nor to actually use the reporting interface properly, which doesn't inspire confidence, sorry.

Let's start with the basics: who's "us"?

So far you've got no reputation or track record to speak of.

1) if you'd had read the title and description of the list - you'd know that you ended up there because you are following bsky.app/profile/drni...
2) the list is fully automated and does exactly what it says on the tin
3) I made it just for myself, and I'm not advertising it to anyone else

For all I know - they may be genuinely wonderful people who fiercely fight for human rights anywhere. That's not the point here. The point is that attitude "so what that they're russians?" is actively harmful while russian society (not govt) is waging a genocidal war.

And I think considerations of "fairness" have much lower priority than basic consequentialism when it comes to matters of life and death.

Their social media presence seems very slim, but I'm willing to bet they're still sending money to their parents in russia.
October 24, 2024 at 1:37 PM
Two people in question though did grow up in russia and left relatively recently (2008 means they lived there for 2 full terms of Putin's presidency, and during the Second Chechen War).
October 24, 2024 at 1:37 PM
Like it or not, but a portion of that money does end up in the hands of the russian govt.

If they'd grew up elsewhere and didn't have any ties to russia aside from being born there - sure, that's a different conversation.

Am I going to get an answer? :)

Blocking or not blocking someone is a personal choice and any motivation either way is not subject to external validation.

(I did unblock you as of now, FWIW)
October 24, 2024 at 12:16 PM
So, do you still maintain that this is "irrational hate"?
October 24, 2024 at 10:44 AM
And there's a compounding issue of propaganda: any cases of russians actually doing the right thing are blown out of proportion, to paint an extremely skewed picture of reality, in turn making everyone more reluctant to mount appropriate response to russian aggression.
October 23, 2024 at 10:40 PM
OTOH, if your best foot forward is that you personally didn't turn on a gas chamber with people inside - you're still perpetuating the status quo. You still aren't doing anything about the beliefs you share with others, same beliefs that cause others to flip the switch.
October 23, 2024 at 10:39 PM
It's a bit more complex than that, but the basic idea is that dismantling horrible aspects that are pervasive in a given society requires a *lot* of work, from *everyone*. I know a few russians whom I have no problem interacting with, because they understand this and do a lot of this work.

> have been raised brainwashed by imperialist ideology

They literally are producers of this ideology. Most not by conscious choice, sure. But that doesn't make Ukrainians any less dead.

It's extremely fucked up to ignore the mountain of historical evidence that "the government" is the natural product of russian culture and society, not the cause of them raping and torturing children
October 23, 2024 at 7:57 PM
Believing that gives you warm fuzzy feeling, sure. But have you actually met those russians in person? Yeah, on paper they will say that they're "against the war". And at the same time still treat you like a lesser being, and say that "[ethnic slur] should've just surrendered"
October 23, 2024 at 7:54 PM
Your ethics are for you to decide. For me it's purely pragmatic: condoning that being "russian" is any way okay contributes to the myth that "russia is mostly good, it's just so happens that they put genocidal dictators in charge every single time". That myth actively contributes to us being killed.
October 23, 2024 at 7:33 PM
I do encourage you to check out the history of genocidal wars waged by russia in the past century alone.
October 23, 2024 at 7:30 PM
Your argument does not stand up to any kind of scrutiny for anyone with more memory than a goldfish.

Nothing irrational there. Just a basic matter of survival.

CanadianKobzar is on my shit list since 2022.

And it's not only a question of trusting you. It's much more about trusting your methods of separating genuine fundraisers from scams. Sadly, you appear to have none and rely solely on community reputation (a.k.a. clout)
