I was interested to learn his obsessive(?) friendship of Wagner. His sisters abhorrent pov and attempt to start Germany2 in Paraguay. His downward spiral into what sounded like religious mania. He stateless existence, moving around europe for "health" and "inspo".

It was a quick read and I really enjoyed it. It was the type of book you couldn't really predict why things were as they are. I enjoyed how they tied it all together. By only criticism is I wanted more, which isn't a criticism really, just a sign of me not wanting it to finish. Worth a read

Least fave: Atmosphere. I really wanted to enjoy it more, but I think I was in the mood for a little bit more space/drama given the start of the book. Loved the delve into 1980s female/feminist discourse and the love story. It got a little bit to into god at one stage for me, bur ending make me cry💚

Fave... I actually enjoyed The Beast as a quick satirical jab at papers/journos for The Daily Hate (Mail). How a paper easily runs with vibes and not facts, collective paranoia and xenophobia in middle class Britain. It isnt a serious book, but its exactly what I imagine such media outlets are like.
