Decades before modern log flumes or water coasters, Mountain Torrent nailed the formula — scenic climb, twisting descent, and a huge splash finale. It’s wild to think that 1906 Luna Park paved the way for today’s “new” ideas in ride design.

In 1906, Luna Park’s Mountain Torrent mixed roller coaster thrills with a water ride twist. Guests climbed an 80-foot mountain covered in waterfalls, raced through rushing flumes, and splashed down into a glacial lake. Early theme park engineering at its boldest!

One of my favorite collectibles is this reproduction of the #DisneyWorld concept map that hung in the Contemporary and Polynesian resort rooms until the late 1970s. It is massive. It’s 5.5 feet wide and 4.5 feet tall.

It shows the magic kingdom, bay lake and seven seas lagoon, and all of the planned resorts. It’s done in a whimsical style reminiscent of the time.
