📚New book!!! So happy to share that ‘Why Historic Places Matter Emotionally’ has just been published by Cambridge University Press.

Outlines a conceptual framework for ‘emotion’ comprised of responses, attachments, and communities built from evidence from places across England and Scotland.

Congratulations to Prof Alice Mah on publication day! 🎉

Red Pockets takes the reader on an evocative journey from South China to Scotland - and weaves in Alice's research at UofG.

She'll be doing a reading on 6 May at Glasgow's Argyll St @waterstones.bsky.social - do go along if you can 📕
A book by a UofG academic described as a 'haunting blend of memoir, cultural history and environmental exploration' is now out.

Alice Mah's 'Red Pockets' explores her @UofGUrbStudies research on toxic pollution and environmental justice.

Such fun to support the Humanise Summit with the AHRC Place Programme. Covered serious issues = building design and health. We spoke to how evidence from the arts and humanities can help us understand links between building design, emotions, belonging and ownership.
‘Boring buildings are bad for our brains!’

A call for more joyful buildings was made at the recent Humanise Summit, co-hosted by UofG as part of the AHRC Place-Based Research Programme, led by @imadgination03.bsky.social @uofgussp.bsky.social.
