Michelle doesn’t need to prove herself to anyone. This is a great way to make a statement and show solidarity to those deeply hurt by the election results.

I would 100% rather a system where a well qualified payer assigns a clinician to verify the care I am getting is necessary and will be effective. But I have learned I need to be my own advocate. Its not that the doctors are wrong or payers. You will find issues on both sides of the coin.

Healthcare is extremely complex especially when you take into consideration social determinants of health which directly effects who ends up sick. You guessed it the poor and disenfranchised. I do okay financially but I have had 6 surgeries done for an issue that is still not resolved.

Managed care plans help with several other key management functions such as building provider networks, credentialing providers, quality improvement programs that encourage preventive care to avoid people from getting sicker and needing more invasive care that no wants. (3)

Hey Mark! I think you raise valid points. Before managed care orgs you had rampant fraud as a result of the fee-for-service model that was the backbone of the payment models. But I would push back on the oversimplified statement that it is the primary reason care plans exist. (1)
