I think quinsy is still in use in the UK! My brother had one as a kid and it was called that then, and when I had a bunch of tonsillitis complications I was told what quinsy symptoms to look out for (love this list btw)

Many of these therapies seem designed to induce dissociative states, and profound shame. I am in awe of J's courage and insight.

There are lots of more insidious forms where they don't immediately confront clients that way but wait a few weeks to foster trust, but I think it's important to lay out clearly where the red lines are - gaslighting, being made to distrust your own feelings, being disrespected in your experiences.

imo there's a broad continuity of ways that people who are imagined to want (rather than reluctantly give up or plausibly avoid) receptive sex are treated, that a lot of queer community discourse is basically not literate about
