I wouldn't play it in bo1, but definitely considering out of the sideboard

It is insomuch as commander is the most popular format. You said it yourself they're not going to stop focusing on designing commander cards.

But the point is that wotc is talking about this because it would make designing for all formats at one better for them

Yea,certaily.. but he talks a ton about draft as well for being the commander guy. Its even more clear from Maro

The "or" carries through, so to speak, its not a decision you have to make for every pip pre-build
November 9, 2025 at 8:49 PM
I think I see the distinction your making, and its not surprising to me that people are talking right past each other.

The way I read "or" (and that Gavin's example implies), is that U can go in B(U or G) and G can go in B(U or G).
November 9, 2025 at 8:48 PM
Maro and Gavin are both talking far more about designing low power cards for draft than commander cards
November 9, 2025 at 8:35 PM
Could you rearticulate the concern from the Tatsunari post? Maybe the confusion is just everyone talking about different things.

Gavin says a UW hybrid could go in a U deck, a W deck, or be the commander of a UW deck at 6:48
November 9, 2025 at 8:33 PM
Maro's podcast and Gavin's "what does Gavin think" video both explicitly say this.
November 9, 2025 at 7:18 PM
Back to the start and then i'm out... I don't disagree with that in general, I just dont see how hybrid is particularly an issue.
November 9, 2025 at 1:47 AM
I see the concern... imo hybrid is way more useful to them at lower power (maro's said as much on his pod), i can't see them printing bomb rares with hybrid and no balancing just to do it.
November 9, 2025 at 1:38 AM
I think they understand mana will enough to not do that... they're going to print something broken in standard, but hybrid being the problem is not realistic.
November 9, 2025 at 1:35 AM
It's more that any mechanic is an opportunity to print something broken, and hybrid doesn't seem particularly hard for them to balance.
November 9, 2025 at 1:30 AM
Or imagine it with flashback or indestructible or any other mechanic... see?
November 9, 2025 at 1:16 AM
Im not arguing that they won't print broken cards with questionable motivations, im trying to understand what hybrid has to do with that
November 9, 2025 at 1:11 AM
Im trying to understand why hybrid mana is dangerous for standard, help me out. Vivi printed with mechanic X is an argument that wotc will print a broken card no matter what, not that hybrid is dangerous
November 9, 2025 at 1:10 AM
Why hybrid mana and not one of the 25 other new to standard mechanics they'll print in the coming year?
November 9, 2025 at 1:04 AM
Why is hybrid mana dangerous for standard? I dont see it
November 9, 2025 at 12:53 AM
Hybrid seems pretty benign for standard. What's the last power outlier hybrid card in Standard?
November 9, 2025 at 12:44 AM
This is exactly why "it would give designers more flexibility" is a good argument. Commander affects all our other formats now, like it out not... not aligning with the design intent for every other format means someone loses... and yea, the money says it's going to be the other formats

definitely won't think of il est orange every time a certain public figure comes up

first time I've done this and already forget some of my picks - is there a place we can see all the entries? No worries if its just wait for update posts.

Indeed, and it's perfect for that. Will eat up all TM related content here, frequent updates please!

Are you a long time TM fan? Watching through now for the first time? Its so good... and Alex and Greg's dynamic over the series is just perfect.
