Visuals matter. Paying living artists for their work matters. For the cover of the first book in the Slavery and Emancipation series (January 2025), we got permission to use a work by Dutch artist of Surinamese heritage, Natasja Kensmil, called “White Elephant”, oil on canvas, 200x230 cm, 2019.
