I support spacex, which is a massive net benefit to humanity, and the American tax payer.

You’re moving the goalposts from “there is no benefit” to “name a recent benefit”.

Every day of space research brings discoveries of materials, communications, pharmaceuticals, and energy technologies etc. The scientific world disagrees with you. Space travel helps Earth, you’re not a scientist.

The HLS contract says otherwise.
October 14, 2025 at 6:34 PM
This is very naive. Scientists widely regard space travel as beneficial for humanity because of how it forces us to invent new technologies:

GPS
Weather satellites
Earth observation
Solar panels
Modern insulation and fireproofing
Water purification and filtration
Robotics
Refrigeration
And more!

Ok so there’s a misconception here: NASA doesn’t actually build rockets, it has contracted out the work of building rockets to private industry since its inception. So, the alternative to SpaceX is paying mil contractors (Lockheed, Boeing, etc) to build these rockets at 10x the cost to the taxpayer.

Do you really think that space exploration and the development of more capable launch vehicles adds no value to society? Because that opinion is basically non-existent in the scientific community.
October 14, 2025 at 3:31 AM
Yup and again, well worth it. You see, if not for SpaceX, those government contracts would be going to the rotten space launch arm of the military industrial complex and costing the tax payer billions more. You’re barking up the wrong tree.

Zinger! How clever! Doesn’t change the fact that spacex is saving the taxpayer millions. I enjoy combatting the spread of misinformation :)

The falcon 9 is SpaceX’s primary launch vehicle, and the most reliable and safe rocket of all time.

Starship will save the tax payer billions. Falcon already has saved millions.

Money well spent. Saving the tax payer billions.
October 14, 2025 at 2:55 AM
This is a categorically false statement which reveals deep seated bias. If you’re at all interested in facts, the Falcon 9 has had 552 successes out of 555 launches. It is the most reliable rocket ever designed.

Regardless of what you think, the end effect is the betterment of humanity.
October 14, 2025 at 2:46 AM
It has saved the government a shit load of money. Whatever percent of revenue is represented by government contracts is well earned and the taxpayer should be stoked about it.
October 14, 2025 at 2:44 AM
Spacex has saved the government massive amounts of money and created thousands of American jobs.
October 14, 2025 at 2:41 AM
They have not yet attempted a moon landing, correct. They have eclipsed NASA’s accomplishments in the realms of cost efficiency and reusability (through groundbreaking innovation. Also, they have the only American rocket that can bring crew to the space station. Would you prefer we fly Russian?
October 14, 2025 at 2:40 AM
Money well spent.
October 14, 2025 at 2:36 AM
It did not.
