This is probably because, as Gediminas Urbonas, together with co-authors Ann Lui and Lucas Freeman, emphasize, ‘public space is a perennial and open concern’ (in Public Space? Lost and Found, 2014). Cinema as a public space tends to appear quite mundane, but not until you start losing it...

To my own surprise, every time I seem to have more to say about this topic. I guess that is the beauty and generosity of the public space – once you start thinking about it, it continues giving.
