here are some thoughts and considerations that went into this design
- new yet familiar: i took inspiration from all three of her in-game appearances, and tried to mix and match them. i wanted to show that she has aged, but she’s still the same old isabela we know - her hairstyle is the same, but her hair has begun to grey; she’s wearing trousers, but half of their buttons are undone (i assume she still dislikes wearing them); and under her big and imposing hat hides the familiar blue bandana from da2. - pirate queen: giant tricorne hat with a giant colourful feather, a peg leg, and belts are all tried and true pirate clichés. you don’t have to look at her twice to know exactly what she does for a living. - admiral isabela: back in inquisition we learnt that isabela was calling herself an admiral, and this time around she’s in charge of the lords of fortune. to show her authority i added a sash and an epaulette. yet the sash is flowy, water-like, and loose, and she only has one epaulette on, which is hardly formal. thus, she’s a leader, but not the kind you bow or pledge allegiance to. - audibly loud: the wind chime-esque coins on her hat, bunched up bracelets on her arms, the golden peg leg - loud jewelry announces her presence before you even get a single look at her.
