My friend pointed out that it’s 30 years since ‘Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness‘ was released - the Smashing Pumpkins‘ magnum opus concept album, and one of my absolute favourites. Basically designed to make sad teenagers (like me in 1995) feel like they’re not alone.

After HeroQuest (bought for me by my parents) it was these wonderful bony chaps! The Skeleton Army box set, must have been around 1990ish. Incredible value.

Reading my son Pyramids, by Sir Pterry Pratchett. We’ve just got to my favourite bit, where the protagonist meets the Ephebian philosophers who are conducting practical tests of thought experiments (“Caution: Unresolved Postulates”)

Reading my son Pyramids, by Sir Pterry Pratchett. We’ve just got to my favourite bit, where the protagonist meets the Ephebian philosophers who are conducting practical tests of thought experiments (“Caution: Unresolved Postulates”)

Still enormously enjoying my read-through of the Dragonbane core set.
One thing I appreciate is that intelligent “monsters” like orcs, goblins, giants etc are not presented as being automatically evil. They might be, but the civilized races are just as likely to be the aggressors.

Agree on the Space Marine one; the 2nd expedition Furioso dread was just incredible.

Sad to say it doesn’t feature any of my favourite bits of Ork art (which are mostly Rogue Trader era). But there are a couple of pieces I really like: Imperial Guard looking doomed in the face of a gigantic Ork brute, and a great Speed Freak buggy zooming towards the POV

At the weekend I was forced to roll on the Critical Wounds table and managed to roll 32: broken metatarsal. Ouch.
One surprisingly quick trip to the walk-in centre later I am now the proud owner of a support boot and pair of crutches.

Just started playing Alan Wake 2, which so far is a terrifyingly good time. The dark, haunting atmosphere is only *slightly* marred by a giant colourful popup (complete with noisy Bing!) that appeared to congratulate me on some inane achievement. Well done Epic Game Store.
