Good job, but I'm curious, why itunes when you don't want to have an apple product in hand? I fully support it, don't get me wrong, I wouldn't want a device with a bitten apple on it either, but at that point just use anything else(?)

They probably still think their decisions are what's best for you because that is what they know will bring you success, probably because it worked for them.
Maybe not just that but also they feel like you are still so young and don't really know the weight of your decisions.
